Calendar hygiene is keeping the calendar an accurate account of your time: declining what you will not attend, deleting what did not happen, and making sure a block that says two hours of writing means two hours of writing.
Where it goes wrong
Automated blocks make it worse before they make it better. A calendar full of stale auto-generated holds that nobody trusts is less useful than an empty one, which is why any tool writing blocks has to remove them when the work is done.
