The Eisenhower matrix
The Eisenhower matrix sorts work into four boxes by urgency and importance, on the principle that the important and non-urgent box is the one that gets neglected. It is named after a distinction Dwight Eisenhower quoted in a 1954 address.
Also called: urgent important matrix, Eisenhower box
Where it goes wrong
Eisenhower was quoting someone else, and he did not draw a matrix. More usefully: sorting is not scheduling. The important and non-urgent quadrant is neglected precisely because nothing forces it into a particular hour, and a second list does not force it either.
Diarized schedules the work you already keep in a to-do app into the calendar you already use, and shows you why every block landed where it did.
