The weekly review
The weekly review is an hour set aside to go back over everything you have committed to: emptying the inbox, seeing what slipped, and deciding what the coming week is actually for. It is the maintenance step in Getting Things Done, and David Allen treats it as the one habit the system cannot run without.
Also called: weekly planning, weekly reset
Where it goes wrong
It is the first thing dropped in a bad week, which is precisely the week it existed for. The deeper trouble is that a review is diagnostic and people expect it to be corrective. An hour spent confirming that next week is already oversubscribed changes nothing unless something comes back out of the calendar.
Diarized schedules the work you already keep in a to-do app into the calendar you already use, and shows you why every block landed where it did.
